Richard Bubin has over 17 years carving experience. He is a certified National Ice Carving Association (NICA) judge and has been a member for 10 years. He is also on the board of directors for NICA. Richard is also a Chef Garde Manager Instructor. During his 17+ years of carving ice and fruit sculptures for the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, Richard has won 18 Gold Medals, 48 Silver Medals and 54 Bronze Medals. He has received 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal from the American Culinary Federation. Richard is also a member of the Etoile Culinary Team, from Venice, Italy. Richard is a proud father of 2 wonderful boys, Tyler, age 6 (already carving with dad) and Trevor, age 7 months.
Richard has been quoted as saying "I would like to push the art of sculpting ice to a higher level by: starting a business alliance group of NICA to network our profession as a group, getting more media coverage such as magazines, newspapers and TV shows. He has accomplished that goal. Richard has been featured in the February 1998 issue of Income Opportunities Magazine, The November 1998 issue of Entrepreneur's Business Start Ups, The Pittsburgh Press, The Beaver County Times, The Progress, Tribune Review and The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Richard has also been seen on the local Pittsburgh television station Fox 53 and on Sunday Morning with Charles Kuralt.
